Some features have dependencies on other features, either at the site or site collection level. If you encounter a feature that has dependencies, you may receive a message indicating you need to enable another feature first.

Summary

In this chapter, we've covered some of the core SharePoint Server site collection planning concepts, including choosing a site design architecture (classic versus modern), interacting with modern site components such as lists, libraries, and site templates, and managing features.

From an architectural perspective, Microsoft's recommendations are to focus on modern design concepts, paving the way for migration to SharePoint Online.

We also covered site policies to help manage the governance of sites, and to move content between sites using the Save site as template method and the Site Content and Structure tools.

In the next chapter, we will dive into Business Connectivity Services for interacting with remote data.
